2017 a good year

Passing Hats 2017

Our Mission: To add warmth and comfort to every cancer patient through a hat made with love

I hope all have had an incredible Holiday Season and a very Happy New Year. I want to say a huge thank you to all who have donated yarn, money donations and to all who have been making hats for Passing Hats.

I want to fill you in on what had been happening in 2017.

Many of you know that I relocated to Colorado. Danielle Dennis has graciously taken over Texas for us.

In Colorado

We have 63 new knitters in 7 knitting groups. My goal was to have our hats in 4 Colorado hospitals before the end of the year 2017, and we made it into 6.

Passing Hats has been written up in Erie Colorado Lifestyles Magazine and in Vista Ridge Magazine.

We had two Lunch and Loom sessions one with Elevations Credit Union and one with Level 3 Communications. With Level 3 communications woman’s group, we did a video conference in 7 states.

In Texas

NBC highlighted one of our recipients of our hats. Juan’s sister Diana is now helping us out making hats.

Lunch and Loom sessions were at Colin College in March, The landing @ Watermere in Frisco in September, In November Women of the Well Center United Methodist Woman, November – My Possibilities Hipsters group and in December -She’s the First.

We had a little over 13,000 skeins of yarn donated valued at approximately $15,000. Yarn donations in itself are a huge help to get us through the year.

We also made and handed out 17,494 hats to cancer patients.

We have been very busy in 2017. We are looking forward to an active 2018.
